Comparison

Cafeity compared with Lose It!

Lose It! has been helping people count calories since 2008, and it has added GLP-1 support. It is a very good food logger. The real question is whether you want a calorie counter that knows about your medication, or a medication record that knows about your food.

Where Lose It! is ahead

Lose It! has 778,218 App Store ratings averaging 4.8 stars, runs on iPhone, iPad and Android, and is available in eight languages. It describes a food database of more than 56 million items and recipes, connects to fitness trackers and smart scales from several makers, and offers intermittent-fasting tracking and support groups. It has had almost two decades to refine food logging, and for depth of food logging it is well ahead of Cafeity.

Two different starting points

Lose It! starts from a calorie budget: complete a profile and it calculates a daily budget and a weight-loss schedule. On a GLP-1 the difficulty is often the reverse of overeating — appetite can fall so far that protein and fluids suffer (see eating with no appetite). Cafeity starts from the medication: the dose, the site, the days after, what you managed to eat and how you felt. It leads with protein, fibre and water, never sets an energy target below 1,200 kcal, and never gives a date or a schedule for reaching a weight.

If you want to use both

Plenty of people log food in a nutrition app and keep the medication record somewhere else. Know the limit first: Cafeity writes the food you log in it to Apple Health, but it does not read food logged in other apps, so its protein and fibre views only see meals logged in Cafeity. If food logging is your priority, Lose It! on its own may be the simpler choice.

Common questions

Does Lose It! work for people on a GLP-1?
Its listing describes GLP-1 support: logging your medication, estimated GLP-1 levels, and how each phase may align with hunger. At its core it remains a calorie counter.
Is Cafeity a calorie counter?
It counts calories as context, but leads with protein, fibre and water, and never sets a calorie deficit or a weight-loss schedule.
Can Cafeity read the food I log in Lose It!?
No. Cafeity writes the food you log in it to Apple Health, but it does not read food logged in other apps.
